Christina Eighmey, born 11/23/1965, grew up in her  birthplace of Waterloo, Iowa. She is a first generation German-American. Her  mother was a professional seamstress in athletic wear. Her father was engaged  in the US Army boxing team as an Olympic trial boxer in Bamburg, Germany, where  her parents met. After the military, her father worked at the John Deere  Foundry in Waterloo.
      
      Eighmey’s interest in art began early at the age of 4 with  painting a mural of horses by her bedside. In high school, she left a  historical mark in fast pitch softball which inspired her interest in becoming  a sports artist.
      
      Eighmey pursued college at Indiana Wesleyan University and  Bartlesville Wesleyan College, OK. Her studies included Fine Art and Anatomical  Medical Art. She also attended Chicago City College in Stuttgart, Germany where  she was stationed for four years in the US Army. While in Germany, she served  as a German -  American translator and defensive mapper. Eighmey is also a Desert  Shield/Desert Storm Gulf War Veteran. After leaving the Army, she landed in  Maine in 1991 and continues to make it her home as well as part of the year in  Florida. While in Florida, Eighmey continued her education in Graphic Design at  Valencia College, Orlando.
      
    Eighmey’s passion is spending several weeks each winter in  her studio in Maine, working with watercolor, oils, pen and ink, pastels, and acrylics. She is  inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds her, the achievements of others,  and has a great passion for animals. She is a survivor in many ways and is  inspired to paint her experiences and views 
    of life.
